HISTORY OF THE ABORIGINALS

The aborigines populated Australia for 50,000 years.

They are nomads and because of this peculiarity,

Australia was annexed by England under the

excuse of Terra Nullius* in the 1770s.

« Dreaming » is their faith* which defines

their culture, their past and their link

with the ancestors and their environment.

The arrival of the English, the « European Settlement »*as they

called it , was going to transform for ever the peace of the

aborigines and provoke their disappearance. The aborigines in

Tasmania were totally exterminated, a few of them remain* in

Victoria since the end of the last century and the survivors

shine with their absence. You may meet some of them

in Southern Australia, Queensland, Sydney, and certain parts

of the new South Walles, and a little more in the Territories

of the North.

However the aboriginal art is very

appreciated and certain paintings

are sold hundreds of thousands of

dollars in art galleries around the

                 world!!

Their inventions, the Boomerang

and the didgeridoo, are very

appreciated and are exported in

the whole world.                                                                                          Terra Nullius : Terre nulle
